Uluç Bayraktar — Biography

Crime, underworld and period storytelling are the ground on which Uluç Bayraktar has built his name as a Turkish television director. He is most associated with Ezel and Karadayı, and in recent years he has made El Turco, Enfes Bir Akşam and Eşref Rüya, working for both domestic channels and international streaming platforms.

Born in Gelibolu, Bayraktar studied radio, television and cinema at Ege University and graduated in 2001. After taking his short film Hayat Bu to festivals, he entered the industry as an assistant director, first on Çağan Irmak's Şaşıfelek Çıkmazı, then on Abdülhamid Düşerken and Asmalı Konak. He moved into directing in the mid-2000s with the Kabuslar Evi series, Ezo Gelin and Menekşe ile Halil. His breakthrough was Ezel in 2009, followed by Son, the three seasons of Karadayı, İçerde, Çarpışma and Babil. In the 2020s he directed İyi Adamın 10 Günü, Kötü Adamın 10 Günü, Meraklı Adamın 10 Günü and Siyah Kalp.

In 2010 he was named best director for Ezel at the 1st İsmail Cem Television Awards. El Turco, starring Can Yaman, and Enfes Bir Akşam, with Engin Akyürek and Aslı Enver, both reached audiences in 2025.
