Yoko

Yoko is a 2012 German-language adventure and fantasy children's film directed by Franziska Buch. A co-production between Germany, Austria, and Sweden, it is based on the children's book of the same name by Knister; Gerrit Hermans, Claudia Boysen, and Abraham Rodriguez also contributed to the screenplay. The music was composed by Klaus Badelt. The film premiered in Germany on February 16, 2012.

The film centers on Pia, a young girl struggling to come to terms with the loss of her father, and her encounter with a yeti that can become invisible. Pia tries to protect this creature, which she names Yoko, from Thor van Sneider, an animal hunter who wants to capture it. Jamie Bick plays Pia in the lead role; the cast also includes Tobias Moretti, Justus von Dohnányi, Jessica Schwarz, Lilly Reulein, Hoang Dang-Vu, and Friedrich Heine. The film received mixed reviews from critics; some praised it as a children's film, while others noted that it might fall short of the original book story.
