Wild Blood
Wild Blood (original title Sanguepazzo) is a 2008 French-Italian biographical drama directed by Marco Tullio Giordana. It tells the true story of Osvaldo Valenti and Luisa Ferida, a celebrated pair of actors who were stars of Italian cinema during the Mussolini era. Famous both on screen and in their turbulent private lives, the couple were leading figures of films backed by the Fascist regime, and rumors of excess and scandal followed them everywhere. Days after Italy's liberation, on 30 April 1945, they were executed by partisans just outside Milan, accused of collaboration and torture. Monica Bellucci plays Luisa Ferida, while Luca Zingaretti portrays Osvaldo Valenti. The film was presented at the 2008 Cannes Film Festival. Through their tragic fate, it questions how much of what was said about the pair was true, set against the chaos of the final days of the war in Italy.
