Thomas
Thomas (original title Tommaso) is a 2001 Italian religious drama directed by Raffaele Mertes, produced as part of 'The Bible – New Testament' television film series from a screenplay by Gareth Jones. The story follows Thomas, one of the twelve apostles of Jesus. After the crucifixion, Thomas cannot accept the reports that Jesus has risen from the dead; he doubts the testimony of the other disciples and insists he will only believe if he can see the risen Christ and touch his wounds himself. The film traces his path from doubt to faith, culminating in his encounter with the resurrected Jesus and his confession of belief. The cast includes Mehmet Günsür and Maria Grazia Cucinotta alongside Hannes Jaenicke, Ricky Tognazzi and Mathieu Carrière. The roughly 90-minute film was shot in Italian.
