The Waiter

The Waiter is a 2018 Greek thriller-mystery film written and directed by Steve Krikris. Running about 104 minutes and originally in Greek, it holds the distinction of being the first Greek film to be shown on Netflix.

The story centers on Renos, a waiter leading a monotonous, solitary life. His quiet routine is shattered when he begins to suspect that his neighbor has fallen victim to murder; his seemingly ordinary surroundings gradually turn into a realm of dark curiosity and unsettling obsession. Aris Servetalis plays Renos, joined by Giannis Stankoglou, Alexandros Mavropoulos and Chiara Gensini.

The film won four prizes at the 2019 Greek Film Academy Awards: best actor for Servetalis, best supporting actor for Stankoglou, original music and production design.
