The Red Ibis

The Red Ibis (L'Ibis rouge) is a 1975 French comedy directed by Jean-Pierre Mocky. The screenplay, adapted by André Ruellan, draws on Knock Three One Two, a novel by the American crime writer Fredric Brown. The cast includes Michel Galabru, Michel Serrault and Dominique Zardi, alongside performers such as Jean Le Poulain, Évelyne Buyle and Michel Francini. Running about 81 minutes, the film carries Mocky's characteristic blend of crime plotting and dark humour. The picture also holds a special place in French film history as the final screen appearance of the legendary actor Michel Simon, one of the great figures of classic French cinema.
