The Lady Banker

The Lady Banker (original French title La Banquière) is a 1980 French drama film directed by Francis Girod, who co-wrote the screenplay with Georges Conchon. Its fictionalized story was inspired by the life of Marthe Hanau, who famously defrauded countless small investors of millions of francs during the 1920s and 1930s by promoting stocks and securities of shell or non-existent companies belonging to her friends and business partners.

Romy Schneider stars in the leading role of Emma Eckhert, supported by an ensemble that includes Jean-Louis Trintignant, Jean-Claude Brialy, Claude Brasseur, Marie-France Pisier, Daniel Mesguich, Jean Carmet, Daniel Auteuil and Thierry Lhermitte. The film's score was composed by Ennio Morricone, and it runs 131 minutes.
