The Bachmeier Case (Der Fall Bachmeier – Keine Zeit für Tränen)

Der Fall Bachmeier – Keine Zeit für Tränen (The Bachmeier Case) is a 1984 German drama written and directed by Hark Bohm. Shot in colour and spoken in German, it runs about 97 minutes and was first shown on February 18, 1984. Bohm also produced it, and the music is by Jens-Peter Ostendorf.

The film is based on a real crime. Marianne Bachmeier, who in 1981 shot her daughter's killer dead in a courtroom, appears in a fictionalised version under the name Marie Sellbach. The focus is not only the killing but the collapse it causes within the family. Marie Colbin plays Marie Sellbach, Michael Gwisdek is Martin Birkhof and Christine Limbach is Julia Sellbach, with Werner Rehm as Heimo Germer. The cast also includes Uwe Bohm, Angela Schmid, Jan Fedder, Knut Hinz and Uwe Dallmeier.
