Sweet Idleness

Sweet Idleness is a 1998 drama from Romanian director Nae Caranfil, who wrote the screenplay by drawing on Frédéric Vitoux's novel La comédie de Terracina. The film paints a striking portrait of an era in which moral values quietly come undone against a backdrop of political and historical upheaval. Antoine de Clermont-Tonnerre produced the picture, and composer Nicola Piovani recorded its score with a full symphony orchestra brought into the studio. The leading parts went to Giancarlo Giannini, François Cluzet and Pierfrancesco Favino, while the cast also features Isabella Ferrari and Margherita Buy.
