Sex Quartet

Sex Quartet (original Italian title Le fate, meaning "The Fairies") is a 1966 Italian-French comedy anthology film made up of four segments, each helmed by a different director: Mario Monicelli, Mauro Bolognini, Antonio Pietrangeli and Luciano Salce. Every episode puts a different leading lady at its center, with Monica Vitti, Claudia Cardinale, Raquel Welch and Capucine headlining the ensemble. The supporting cast includes Alberto Sordi, Enrico Maria Salerno, Gastone Moschin and Jean Sorel, among others. The screenplay was written by some of the most celebrated screenwriters of Italian cinema, including Suso Cecchi d'Amico, Ruggero Maccari and Luigi Magni. The film premiered in Italy in November 1966 and was distributed internationally under various titles, including The Queens in the United States. In the spirit of the commedia all'italiana of its era, the film offers satirical stories in which female characters drive each of the four tales.
