Sade is a French drama film directed by Benoît Jacquot, released in 2000. Adapted by Jacques Fieschi and Bernard Minoret from Serge Bramly's novel La terreur dans le boudoir, the French-language production runs about 98 minutes. Daniel Auteuil stars in the lead role, alongside a cast that includes Marianne Denicourt, Jean-Pierre Cassel, Grégoire Colin, Jeanne Balibar, Isild Le Besco, and Sylvie Testud.

Set in Paris in 1794 at the height of the Reign of Terror, the film follows the Marquis de Sade during his imprisonment. Persecuted for his atheism, his provocative writings, and his personal way of life, Sade denies both his noble birth and his authorship of Justine, the novel attributed to him; he is then confined with other aristocrats in Picpus, a former monastery turned prison. The story focuses on the relationships he builds within this closed world and the influence he exerts over those around him, despite the regime's repression.
