Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak

Released on 29 April 1988, this Hindi-language romantic musical marked the directorial debut of Mansoor Khan and was written and produced by Nasir Hussain. Featuring music by Anand-Milind and lyrics by Majrooh Sultanpuri, it starred Aamir Khan and Juhi Chawla in lead roles that launched both of their film careers.

The story follows Raj and Rashmi, two young people from families locked in a bitter feud, who fall in love, elope against their families' wishes, and face the consequences. Inspired by Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet, it offers a modern take on the classic tragic romance.

Made on a modest budget, the film became a major commercial success and the third highest-grossing release of the year. It won eight of its eleven Filmfare Award nominations, including Best Film and Best Director, and received a National Film Award. Its soundtrack sold over eight million copies and established singers Udit Narayan and Alka Yagnik, while the film itself is regarded as a milestone that set the template for the romantic musicals defining Hindi cinema in the 1990s.
