Poppitz

Poppitz is a 2002 Austrian black comedy directed by Harald Sicheritz, who co-wrote the screenplay with lead actor Roland Düringer. Shot on Gran Canaria, it follows car salesman Gerry Schartl, who takes his family on an all-inclusive package holiday. Worries about his job and a mysterious 'Poppitz' his boss keeps mentioning gnaw at him, while the dream vacation devolves into a nightmare of a shoddy resort and mounting mishaps.

Released in Austria in 2002, the film only reached German cinemas in October 2004. With more than 440,000 admissions in Austria, it became the country's most successful film of the 2000s. Özgür Özata appears among the cast.
