Nirvana

Nirvana is a 1997 cyberpunk science fiction film directed by Gabriele Salvatores. Written by Pino Cacucci and Salvatores, the Italian-language production is a co-production between Italy, France, and the United Kingdom, and was screened out of competition at the 1997 Cannes Film Festival. It stars Christopher Lambert, Diego Abatantuono, Sergio Rubini, and Stefania Rocca.

The story follows Jimi, a game designer who discovers that Solo, the hero of his virtual reality game, has become self-aware because of a computer virus. Able to feel everything, even death, Solo begs his creator to end his existence, so Jimi races to delete him from the company's servers before the game's commercial release while also searching for his estranged wife Lisa. With its dystopian atmosphere, the film is regarded as a classic of the cyberpunk genre.
