The story follows a young female singer trying to become a star in the music hall world of 1920s Paris. As she works her way up on stage she falls in love with a successful composer of the period, and the romance runs alongside the ups and downs of her career. Besides the star names, the cast includes Jane Marken, Germaine Montero, Albert Valsien, Annie Noël, Camille Guérini, Claire Olivier, Georges Douking and Huguette Faget.
It was shot at the Boulogne Studios in Paris. Art director Jean d'Eaubonne designed the sets and Georges Annenkov the costumes. Critics of the day admired the picturesque look of the sets, and the modest budget did not stop the film from working within its means.
