Joy of Fatherhood

Joy of Fatherhood (German: Vaterfreuden) is a 2014 German comedy directed by Matthias Schweighöfer, who also takes the leading role. The film is based on Frettsack, a 2012 novel by Murmel Clausen, and its screenplay was written jointly by Sebastian Wehlings, Murmel Clausen and Andrea Willson. Warner Bros. Pictures distributed the picture, which reached German cinemas on 6 February 2014. Much like Schweighöfer's earlier directing efforts What a Man (2011) and Schlussmacher (2013), it debuted at number one on the German box office chart in its opening week. Alongside Schweighöfer, the ensemble features Michael Gwisdek, Isabell Polak, Katharina Schüttler, Friedrich Mücke, Tom Beck, Detlev Buck, Margarita Broich and Emilia Schüle. Running about 106 minutes, the production stands as one of the notable German romantic comedies of its period.
