Movie · 1971 · 2 people

Ivanhoe, the Norman Swordsman (original title: La spada normanna) is a 1971 swashbuckler directed by Roberto Mauri. Drawing on Walter Scott's celebrated 1819 novel Ivanhoe, it recounts the adventures of a valiant knight caught up in the rivalry between Normans and Saxons in medieval England. The screenplay is by Piero Regnoli. Made as a co-production between France, Spain and Italy, the picture circulated across Europe under different titles, reaching French cinemas as Le Retour d'Ivanhoé. Running roughly ninety-nine minutes, it stars Mark Damon, Luis Dávila, Krista Nell, Nello Pazzafini, Vassili Karis and Linda Sini. The film is regarded as a representative example of the Italian historical adventure genre of the early 1970s.
