Homoti is a 1987 Turkish comedy science-fiction film written and directed by Müjdat Gezen, who also stars in the lead role. Ali, a journalist struggling to deliver a real scoop for his paper, resorts to made-up stories that fail to satisfy his boss. Desperate, he takes some pot lids to a deserted spot to stage fake UFO photographs, and that is when an actual alien appears before him: Homoti, a peaceful being who has fled the repressive regime on his home planet. As Ali hides the visitor and tries to turn the encounter into the story of his career, his professional and private life spiral out of control. The cast also features Perran Kutman, Savaş Dinçel, Demet Akbağ, Altan Erbulak and Bahar Öztan. Shot cheaply with friends for the video market, the modest production has grown into a cult favorite over the years.
