Go West

Go West is a 2005 Bosnian drama directed by Ahmed Imamović. Set during the Bosnian War, it follows two gay lovers in Sarajevo — Kenan, a Bosniak, and Milan, a Serb — who try to flee the besieged city and escape to the West. To survive the journey, Milan is forced to disguise himself as a woman, hiding both his ethnicity and the couple's relationship. Through their struggle, the film portrays the intolerance and violence surrounding ordinary people in wartime Bosnia. Imamović co-wrote the screenplay with Enver Puška, and the production was a joint effort between studios in Bosnia and Croatia. The cast includes Mario Drmać, Tarik Filipović, Rade Šerbedžija, Mirjana Karanović, and Jeanne Moreau.
