Germanikus
Germanikus is a 2004 German comedy directed by Hanns Christian Müller. Gerhard Polt takes the lead, with Hilmi Sözer among the cast. The film follows Hermann, a lazy Germanic tribesman who is captured by Roman slave-hunters and hauled off to Rome; renamed "Germanikus," he ends up as the emperor's food taster and, after a chain of mishaps, is dragged against his will all the way to the imperial throne. A satire of ancient Rome, the production leans on the Bavarian comic tradition of Gerhard Polt and his ensemble.
