Emmanuelle 2 (Emmanuelle l'antivierge)
Known in French as Emmanuelle: L'antivierge ("the anti-virgin"), Emmanuelle 2 dates from 1975 as a French film directed by Francis Giacobetti. A softcore erotic drama, it follows the 1974 film Emmanuelle and is the second entry in the series that bears the same name. The picture was shot in French and runs about 91 minutes, with Sylvia Kristel returning in the title role. In the United States it was released as Emmanuelle, The Joys of a Woman, and in Germany it played as Emmanuelle 2 – Garten der Liebe ("Garden of Love").
The story loosely tracks the plot of the book that continues Emmanuelle Arsan's first novel. Alongside Kristel, the cast features Umberto Orsini, Venantino Venantini, Henri Czarniak and Catherine Rivet, with Florence Lafuma and Claire Richard also among the players. Laura Gemser, who appears in the small part of a masseuse, would later lead her own "Black Emanuelle" run of erotic films.
Bob Elia and Giacobetti wrote the screenplay together. Francis Lai composed the score, and Pierre Bachelet is also named in the music credit. The series carried on in 1977 with Goodbye Emmanuelle.
