Drôles de zèbres

Drôles de zèbres is a 1977 French comedy film written and directed by Guy Lux. Its title comes from a French expression roughly meaning "odd people." The story follows two unemployed men who have fallen deeply into debt after losing money at the racetrack. They are hired by a criminal mastermind with a scheme of his own: he wants to buy a hotel at a bargain price, because a tunnel running beneath the building leads straight to a nearby bank. To drive the hotel's value down, the two men are tasked with harassing its guests and making the place as unattractive as possible. The cast includes Patrick Topaloff, Coluche, Annie Cordy, Claude François, Sim, Petula Clark, and Katia Tchenko. Mixing the pair's clumsy attempts at sabotage with the larger bank plot, the film is a characteristic example of French popular comedy of its era.
