DJ Ahmet

DJ Ahmet (Macedonian: Диџеј Ахмет) is a 2025 tragicomedy film written and directed by Georgi M. Unkovski, who also produced it together with Ivana Shekutkoska. A co-production of North Macedonia, Czechia and Serbia with Turkish as its original language, the film runs 99 minutes.

The film follows Ahmet (Arif Jakup), a 15-year-old boy living modestly with his father, younger brother and sheep in a remote Yörük village in North Macedonia. After his mother's death, he shoulders the household responsibilities while escaping his troubles through his greatest passion, music. Dreaming of becoming a DJ, he falls in love for the first time and must confront the conservatism of his village. The cast also includes Agush Agushev, Dora Akan Zlatanova, Aksel Mehmet, Selpin Kerim and Attila Klinçe.

The film had its world premiere on 23 January 2025 in the World Cinema Competition section of the Sundance Film Festival, where it won the section's Audience Award.
