Crack in the Mirror

Crack in the Mirror is a 1960 American drama directed by Richard Fleischer. The film is built from two interconnected narratives, and at the center of each lies a love triangle. The three leading performers — Orson Welles, Juliette Gréco, and Bradford Dillman — appear in both stories, playing different characters in each one. The screenplay, credited to Darryl F. Zanuck and Marcel Haedrich, is adapted from Haedrich's novel Drame dans un miroir. Zanuck also produced the picture, and the score was composed by Maurice Jarre. Blending romantic drama with courtroom material, the film was released by 20th Century Fox in May 1960. Seeing the same actors retrace patterns of longing, envy, and betrayal across two contrasting worlds gives the production its defining mirror motif.
