Challenge of the Tiger

Challenge of the Tiger, a 1980 martial arts picture, follows two CIA operatives — one a master of kung fu, the other a smooth-talking ladies' man — assigned to recover the stolen formula of an experimental sterility drug. Their pursuit of the missing formula carries them from Spain all the way to Hong Kong. Along the way they are forced to clash with Neo-Nazi terrorists and even plunge into a circle of Vietnamese spies before their mission can be completed.

A product of the Bruceploitation wave that flourished after Bruce Lee's death, the film was written by its star Bruce Le, who also directed and appears in the lead role. The supporting cast features genre regulars Richard Harrison, Bolo Yeung and Brad Harris. Shot as an Italian, American and Hong Kong co-production, it mixes espionage plotting with the era's familiar kung fu action conventions.
