Alexander (Büyük İskender)
Alexander, released in Turkey as Büyük İskender, is a 2004 historical epic and biographical drama directed by Oliver Stone. The screenplay, written by Stone and Christopher Kyle, drew on Oxford historian Robin Lane Fox's 1973 book Alexander the Great. The film follows the Macedonian king's campaigns against the Persian Empire and the power struggles surrounding him, and was produced with Intermedia among its production companies. Made on a roughly $155 million budget, it underperformed domestically in the United States but did comparatively better abroad, grossing over $167 million worldwide, and was later re-released in three different home-video cuts in 2005, 2007, and 2014. The Turkish-German actor Erol Sander appears among its large international cast.
