Blood for Dracula

Blood for Dracula is a 1974 English-language horror film written and directed by Paul Morrissey, made as a French-Italian co-production shortly after his Flesh for Frankenstein. In its early releases in West Germany and the United States it was promoted as Andy Warhol's Dracula.

The story follows Count Dracula as he travels to Italy in search of the blood of virgins, only to discover that such purity is in desperately short supply, leaving the ailing vampire weak and increasingly frustrated. Udo Kier plays the Count, with Joe Dallesandro, Stefania Casini and Vittorio De Sica among the cast, while Roman Polanski appears briefly as himself. Antonio Margheriti was credited as director on Italian prints without actually directing, a misattribution that eventually led producer Carlo Ponti and Margheriti to be tried for fraud against the state in connection with benefits reserved for Italian films. The film competed at the 1975 Avoriaz International Fantastic Film Festival and opened to mixed reviews.
