Banker Bilo

Banker Bilo is a 1980 Turkish comedy directed and produced by Ertem Eğilmez, from a screenplay by Yavuz Turgul. It ranks among the best-loved Yeşilçam comedies of its decade.

The story centers on Bilo, a guileless village youth who leaves home hoping for a better life. His childhood friend Maho cheats him out of his money with the promise of smuggling him to Germany, and Bilo ends up stranded in Istanbul instead. Alone in the overwhelming metropolis, he drifts from one odd job to another, and his trusting nature makes him an easy target for exploitation. When the two meet again years later, Maho has clawed his way up to become a wealthy banker, while Bilo has remained poor; the wronged man finally decides to settle the score with the friend who ruined him.

İlyas Salman stars as Bilo, with Şener Şen as the scheming Maho. Münir Özkul, Ali Şen and Ahu Tuğba round out the principal cast.
