Balzac

Balzac is a 1999 two-part television film co-produced by France, Italy and Germany about the life of the celebrated French writer Honoré de Balzac (1799–1850). Directed by Josée Dayan and written by Didier Decoin, this biographical drama stars Gérard Depardieu in the title role, alongside Jeanne Moreau, Fanny Ardant and Katja Riemann. The production follows the passionate life of one of the most prolific novelists of the 19th century, portraying his literary work and personal relationships. Produced by TF1 and GMT Productions, it was broadcast on TF1 in France in September 1999.
