A Demon in My View (Der Mann nebenan)

A Demon in My View, released in Germany as Der Mann nebenan, is a 1991 German thriller, also tagged as horror. Directed by Petra Haffter, it is based on Ruth Rendell's 1976 novel of the same name. The film runs about 113 minutes, with a score by Pino Donaggio. It was made in both English and German, and the story is set in London.

The narrative centres on a killer who has been murdering people on the streets for years and on the police effort to catch him. Anthony Perkins, forever linked with Norman Bates in Hitchcock's Psycho, takes the lead as Arthur Johnson, a part said to echo Bates at times. Uwe Bohm plays Anthony Johnson, Sophie Ward is Helen Schweizer and Brian Bovell is Winston Mervin. Stratford Johns, James Aubrey, Hans Peter Hallwachs and Terrence Hardiman complete the cast.

It is also remembered as the second-to-last cinema film of Perkins's career.
