Şerif Erol — Biography

Şerif Erol is a Turkish actor, screenwriter and voice-over artist born on 8 October 1963 in İzmir. After a high-school physics teacher told him he "would never become a physicist," he was spurred to study physics at Boğaziçi University, though he later switched to economics upon realizing the subject wasn't for him. During his university years he performed for a long time with the Boğaziçi University Players theater group and joined Açık Radyo in 1997.

Driven by his passion for theater, Erol trained in and taught the craft, performing with the Nişantaşı-based Stüdyo Oyuncuları troupe led by Şahika Tekand; he staged "Karanlık Korkusu" there in 2008 and took the lead role in "Babamın Cesetleri" at Bilgi University's Krek Tiyatrosu in 2014. From the early 2000s he also wrote screenplays for television series including Bir İstanbul Masalı, Hırsız Polis, Bıçak Sırtı and Koyu Kırmızı, and worked for a period as a voice actor for TRT.

On screen, he is known for playing a station chief in the 2008 film Süt, the character Suavi Alkanlı in the 2023 series Kızıl Goncalar, and a role in Acı Kahve, which screened in the national competition of the 61st Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival.
