Salih Güney — Biography

Salih Güney is a Turkish film and stage actor born in 1945 in Adana. He graduated from the Ankara State Conservatory's Theatre Department in 1959, performed in the play The Lark on the conservatory stage the following year, and began his professional theatre career at the Gen-Ar Theatre within five years of graduating.

He made his screen debut in Bozuk Düzen (1965), directed by Haldun Dormen, and in 1970 took part in the Hollywood production The Mercenaries alongside Tony Curtis and Charles Bronson; the film, which portrayed the Turkish War of Independence, was banned from release in Türkiye. In the following years he appeared in more than a hundred films and television series, including Acı Pirinç and Aşk Hikâyesi, becoming one of the recognizable faces of the Yeşilçam era.

Over his career he received the Golden Orange Lifetime Achievement Award. He is the brother of actor Mutlu Güney and is married to Zeynep Tedü. In late 2025, he publicly disclosed that he had been dealing with a health issue for several months.
