Orhan Aksoy — Biography
Orhan Aksoy (10 January 1930, Mustafakemalpaşa - 22 January 2008, Istanbul) was a Turkish film director, screenwriter and producer. After leaving his education following high school, he entered the film world as a projectionist at Istanbul's Şık and Saray cinemas; after three years in that job he began working at İpek Film Studio from 1952 onward.
He made his directing debut in 1963 with the comedy Şıpsevdi, starring Ayhan Işık and Ajda Pekkan. Over his career he directed more than 90 films and wrote more than 50 screenplays, winning the best director award three times at the Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival.
His many films include Kederli Günlerim (1967), Vurun Kahpeye (1973), Baraj (1977), Dila Hanım (1977), Neşeli Günler (1978), Zehir Hafiye (1989), Hasan Boğuldu (1990) and Varyemez (1991).
