Nisa Serezli — Biography
Born Nurinisa Ersan, Nisa Serezli was born on April 12, 1928, in Istanbul; after finishing Erenköy Girls' High School she studied architecture at the University of Lausanne and French philology and journalism at Istanbul University. She began her stage career as an amateur in 1954 with the Gençlik Tiyatrosu, then worked with the Dormen Tiyatrosu as well as the Oda Tiyatrosu, before co-founding her own troupe with Ayfer Feray.
She adopted the surname of her first husband, Metin Serezli, whom she married in 1957, as her stage name; after that marriage ended she married Tolga Aşkıner and the two founded a new theatre company together, and with this second marriage her legal name became Nurinisa Aşkıner. On screen she appeared in productions including Bozuk Düzen (1965), Yaban Gülü (1970), Tatlı Kaçık (1977) and the 1979 series Yorgun Savaşçı; she also translated numerous plays into Turkish and worked as a voice-over artist. She won best actress honors from the İlhan İskender Tiyatro Armağanı in 1964 and 1966, and from the Sanat Sevenler Derneği in 1978.
She died in Istanbul on August 25, 1992, after suffering a heart attack; a theatre award bearing her name continues to be presented as part of the Afife Tiyatro Ödülleri.
