Mustafa Altıoklar — Biography

Mustafa Altıoklar (born 17 June 1958 in Ünye) is a well-known Turkish film director, screenwriter, producer and actor. Paternally from a family originating in Konya and maternally from a Georgian family that migrated from Batumi to Ünye, Altıoklar trained in medicine at Istanbul University's Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Medicine and completed a master's degree in physiotherapy and rehabilitation at Gazi University; it was the attention drawn by one of his short films that turned him toward a directing career.

He also served for a period as chairman of a Turkish film directors' association, and directed and wrote films including "İstanbul Kanatlarımın Altında," "Ağır Roman," "Asansör," "Dansöz," "Banyo" and "O Şimdi Asker." Altıoklar separated from his first wife Yasemin Erkan, with whom he has a daughter, Arya Su; he is also the uncle of actor Sarp Levendoğlu.

In 2016–2017 he was investigated and briefly detained over social media posts, while a lawsuit filed against him by then-President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan was withdrawn at the end of 2016.
