Mohammadtaghi Kohanmouei — Biography

Mohammadtaghi Kohanmouei was born on 30 December 1920 in Tehran and died there on 3 May 1984. A graduate of the Tehran Acting Academy, he began performing with traveling theatre troupes in 1943 and made his screen debut in 1965 in a film directed by Saber Rahbar. Over the following two decades he took roles in numerous productions from Iran's most prolific commercial film era, including Dash Akol, Ghalandar and Amir Arsalan-e Namdar. He typically played supporting and character parts in adventure and melodrama pictures often rooted in popular folk stories. His career spans the peak years of pre-1979 Iranian commercial cinema, and his filmography lists dozens of credits across the 1960s and 1970s.
