Lau Kar-wing — Biography
Also known by his Chinese name Liu Chia-yung (劉家榮), Lau Kar-wing was born in 1944 in Jiangmen, Guangdong, into a family steeped in the martial-arts tradition of Hong Kong cinema; his father was the noted wing chun master Lau Cham and his elder brother is the director Lau Kar-leung. He passed the family trade on through his own son, Sammy Lau Wing-Kin.
Working as an action choreographer, stunt performer, film director and actor in the Hong Kong film industry, Lau won the Hong Kong Film Award for Best Action Choreography for his fight-scene work. As a performer, he appeared alongside Cüneyt Arkın and Bolo Yeung in the 1974 Turkish production 'Karateciler İstanbul'da', and had a role in the 1989 film 'Kickboxer: Kana Kan', which also featured Jean-Claude Van Damme.
