Korhan Abay — Biography

Korhan Abay (born 1 January 1954) is a Turkish actor, author, film director, producer and presenter. He attended Galatasaray High School and went on to study at the Faculty of Business Administration of Istanbul University.

From 1974 onwards he appeared in more than twenty stage plays and around ten feature films, including Soysuzlar (1975), Elma Şekeri (1975), Şıpsevdi (1977) and Kıskıvrak (1986); he also wrote and directed Büyük Koşu (1987). From the mid-1980s he took roles in Turkish television series while also working as a writer and producer. His later screen work includes Mind the Gap (2007).

The best-known moment of his presenting career came in 2004, when he hosted the Eurovision Song Contest in Istanbul together with Meltem Cumbul; for many years he remained a sought-after host of award ceremonies.
