Kit Harington — Biography

Kit Harington, full name Christopher Catesby Harington, was born on 26 December 1986 in London. A graduate of the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, he began his professional career in 2009 with the role of Albert Narracott in the West End production of War Horse.

He rose to international fame playing Jon Snow in HBO's fantasy series Game of Thrones (2011-2019), a role that earned him a Golden Globe nomination and two Primetime Emmy nominations. On screen he has appeared in Pompeii, Testament of Youth and Marvel's Eternals, and voiced the character Eret in the How to Train Your Dragon animated film series. In the 2017 BBC drama Gunpowder he played Robert Catesby while also serving as the show's producer.

In the 2020s he took on a role in the HBO/BBC co-production Industry, earning critical acclaim, and in 2026 he reunited with former Game of Thrones co-star Sophie Turner in the gothic horror film The Dreadful, the same year he stepped behind the camera as a director for the first time.
