Károly Eperjes — Biography

Károly Eperjes is a Hungarian stage and film actor, born on 17 February 1954 in Hegykő, who has also worked as a screenwriter and director. He trained at the University of Theatre and Film Arts and spent a long tenure with Budapest's National Theatre company. Since 1982 he has taken roles in over fifty film productions, including Colonel Redl, Miss Arizona, Sawdust Tales, Hanussen and The Door. Across his career he has received numerous honours, among them the Kossuth Prize, the Jászai Mari Prize, the Prima Primissima Prize and a lifetime achievement award from the Hungarian Film Academy, and he was once nominated for a European Film Award. Alongside his acting work he has also been active in politics.
