Hikmet Körmükçü — Biography

Hikmet Körmükçü is an actress and voice artist whose long career runs from the theatre stage to television and film. Audiences know her best as Aysel Güngör in the long-running series Bizimkiler, and she continues to perform with the İstanbul City Theatres.

She turned to acting early. While at Üsküdar American Girls' College she had her first theatre lessons from Vasfi Rıza Zobu and Bedia Muvahhit and gained her first stage experience at the Tepebaşı Deneme Sahnesi. In 1972 she began working at the İstanbul City Theatres on a daily wage, joined the permanent company in 1975 and has appeared in many plays.

Alongside the stage she moved into film and television. After Bizimkiler she played Saliha in the Star TV series Aramızda Kalsın, which aired from 2013 to 2015, and she took roles in Kiralık Aşk and Vuslat. She has also done voice work. She comes from a theatre family: she is the granddaughter of Hâzım Körmükçü and the niece of Settar Körmükçü, and her daughter Elif Acehan is a voice artist.
