Fatih Ürek — Biography
Fatih Ürek was born in Erzurum on 3 April 1966, the only son among four children of a butcher who worked at a sausage factory. The family moved to Bursa while he was still an infant, and money troubles after his father's business failed meant he took on jobs such as tailor's apprentice and jeweller's assistant from a young age. Drawn to performing early on, he acted as an extra with the Bursa State Theatre as a teenager, took acting lessons there, and later sang in local venues before relocating to Istanbul to pursue music.
He launched his pop career with a debut album in 1993 and continued releasing records over the following decades, returning to the top of the charts with the 2008 album Sus after a long hiatus. On television he hosted and judged competition shows, and on screen he took the role of Burhan in the film Şeytanın Pabucu. Following a heart attack in October 2025, he spent months in treatment before he died at 59 in an Istanbul hospital, on 30 January 2026.
