Erkan Sekman — Biography
Erkan Sekman is a Turkish defender who has played at centre-back and full-back and built his career across a long list of clubs. Born in the Pütürge district of Malatya, he came up through the game in Istanbul. He signed his first professional contract with Beşiktaş but never played a match for the first team. In later years he turned out for Konyaspor, Gaziantepspor, Antalyaspor and Göztepe, and returned more than once to Yeni Malatyaspor, the club of his home province.
The early phase of his career was made up of youth football and loan spells. Sekman moved to Doğan Güneşspor in 1999 and to Beşiktaş in 2001; he was promoted to the senior squad in 2003 but was sent on loan to Fatih Karagümrük for two seasons in a row. He joined Konyaspor in 2006, and in the 2008-2009 season he was swapped for Erdal Kılıçarslan and signed a three-year deal with Gaziantepspor. In the second half of 2009-2010 he was loaned to Denizlispor, returning to Gaziantepspor when the loan ended.
He signed with Antalyaspor for 2010-2011 and started all 30 of his matches that season, scoring once. The following year he made only six appearances and was left out of the squad, after which he agreed a one-year contract with Mersin İdman Yurdu. He was back at Konyaspor in 2012-2013 and played for Orduspor in 2013-2014. He later played for Göztepe and Yeni Malatyaspor, and in the middle of the 2016-2017 season he joined second-tier side Kastamonuspor 1966.
