Erkan Mustafa — Biography
Best known as Roland Browning, the part he played from 1982 to 1987 in the BBC's long-running children's drama Grange Hill, Erkan Mustafa is a British actor and television presenter. He was born in London and is of Turkish Cypriot descent. He began acting as a child in the early 1980s and kept his link with the screen through presenting and reunion programmes.
After the school drama he took roles in comedy productions: the "Enormous Orphan" in the television comedy Blackadder's Christmas Carol (1988) and Otto in the sitcom Chef! (1991). In 1993 Channel 4's The Word tracked him down while he was helping out at a friend's record shop and put him back in front of the cameras. He later presented for E4 Music, occasionally working with his Grange Hill colleague Lee MacDonald.
He returned for the show's reunions: he took part in the Grange Hill reunion on This Morning in 1998 and in Bring Back Grange Hill in 2005. In October 2009 he hosted a cast reunion at the Sound nightclub in London's Leicester Square. In 2018 he acted with Ronald Forfar and Martin Hancock in the ten-minute short film The All-Nighter.
