Deniz Gürzumar — Biography

Raised in Ankara, Deniz Gürzumar relocated to Istanbul in 2004 and finished a theatre program at Haliç University. His pull toward rap led him into the Antisistem collective in 2005 and a first recorded vocal, alongside Mehmet Kerim, the following year; collaborations with Pit10 and a run of tracks under the Olympos Records banner took him to stages in Ankara, Istanbul, İzmir and Antalya.

Screen work opened in 2006 with a part in Gülpare. Two years later he both acted in and scored the play Aşk Yalan Söyler at Plato-In theatre and came second in the Miller Music Factory contest. A lead film role followed in Esrarlı Gözler, a dramatization of singer Müslüm Gürses's life.

Television credits piled up through Kayıp Şehir, Merhamet, Beni Böyle Sev and Yazın Öyküsü before his best-known part, Barış in Show TV's İçerde, and later appearances in Muhteşem Üçlü and Ramo. Music stayed part of his output too: a first studio album arrived in 2021.
