Demir Demirkan — Biography

Demir Demirkan was born on August 12, 1972, in Adana. While studying at Bilkent University he met members of the metal band Pentagram and joined as guitarist in 1990, later traveling to Los Angeles to study at the Musicians Institute.

After returning to Turkey in 1996, he produced Şebnem Ferah's album Kadın and Sertab Erener's Sertab Gibi, before leaving Pentagram in 1999 to focus on a solo career that produced his self-titled debut album in 2000. In 2003 the song "Everyway That I Can," which he co-wrote and composed with Sertab Erener, won the Eurovision Song Contest for Turkey. He later received the SİYAD award for best film score for Cars of the Revolution in 2009, and rejoined Pentagram in 2017 to mark the band's thirtieth anniversary.

Alongside his music career, Demirkan has more recently turned to literature, publishing his debut novel Zamanda Saklı in 2024 and continuing to present the work through readings and interviews.
