Burak Aksak — Biography

Burak Aksak (born 12 September 1985, Istanbul) is a Turkish screenwriter, director and actor. After completing his primary education in Yedikule and his secondary education at Koca Mustafa Paşa High School, he studied public administration at Anadolu University. He is the cousin of screenwriter Selçuk Aydemir.

Aksak began his television career alongside his cousin with the TRT programme "Ramazan Güzeldir" and became widely known as the writer of the surreal comedy series "Leyla ile Mecnun" (2011), also serving as screenwriter on its feature film follow-up "Ben de Özledim" (2013). In 2015 he wrote and directed the films "Bana Masal Anlatma" and "Kara Bela"; the latter marked a first in Turkish cinema history with its public premiere at the Harbiye Cemil Topuzlu Open Air Theatre before around 5,000 ticketed viewers.

In 2017 he directed "Sen Kiminle Dans Ediyorsun" and the "Deli Dumrul" and "Salur Kazan: Zoraki Kahraman" instalments of the "Dede Korkut Hikâyeleri" series. His writing appeared in the monthly OT magazine from 2013, and in 2017 he founded the publishing house Küsurat Yayınları. He later reunited with Selçuk Aydemir for the Netflix series "50M2" and the atv series "Aile Saadeti" (2025).
