Ayumi Takano — Biography

Ayumi Takano is a Japanese artist born in Tokyo who works in Turkey as an actress and television presenter. She is best known for the Japanese Guide she played in Cem Yılmaz's 2004 film G.O.R.A.; in March 2026 Cem Yılmaz announced that she had joined the cast of GORA 4 GORA. She speaks Japanese, English and Turkish fluently and lives in Istanbul.

She studied in the Theatre Department of Nihon University's College of Art and then graduated from the same school's television drama programme. At eighteen she joined Oscar Promotion, where she continued her acting training, working as a stand-in for stars in commercials and appearing in three commercials and a series. In 1997 she came to Turkey and, on a friend's suggestion, acted in Her Şey Çok Güzel Olacak in 1998; from 2000 to 2002 she did a master's degree in the Cinema-TV Department at Marmara University.

In her first years in Turkey she played Makiko in Aşkım Aşkım, Keyoka in Hadi Uç Bakalım, Yuki in Ağa Kızı and Hanako in Hayat Bilgisi; Hırsız Var! and Avrupa Yakası are also in her filmography. As a presenter she appeared on programmes such as Show Zamanı, Ayumi İle Özel Tatlar and Türkiye'de Yaşamak, and she acted in Çayhane at the Istanbul State Theatre. Later she played Michi Kimura in Ertuğrul 1890 and Manami in Dolunay. She was the official friendship ambassador of Turkey's 2010 Year of Japan.
