Ayşe Romey — Biography
Ayşe Romey was born on 26 August 1970 in Virginia, United States, and is a German-Turkish actress. She launched her film career with the lead role in the 1988 film Yasemin, for which she received the Golden Ribbon award, and later appeared in the 1993 film Mavi Sürgün (The Blue Exile).
Together with her mother, Birsel, she sought and won a provisional injunction against the sale of Maxim Biller's novel Esra, arguing that they were recognisably portrayed in its characters; the ruling was upheld by Germany's Federal Court in 2007 and sparked a wider public debate in Germany over artistic freedom.
