Arzu Ece — Biography
Arzu Ece, born Arzu Özkaraman on 22 September 1963 in Istanbul, is a Turkish singer and songwriter best known for representing Turkey twice at the Eurovision Song Contest. In 1989 she performed with Grup Pan on Timur Selçuk's "Bana Bana," and in 1995 she took the stage both as a duet partner with Fatih Erkoç on "Sevda" and as the solo performer of "Sev," which finished 16th with 21 points.
Beyond her recording career, Ece contributed songs to Turkish television series, including Yılan Hikayesi in 2000 and Sevda Çiçeği in 2006. After being diagnosed with cancer in 2010, she spoke publicly about her treatment, appearing as a guest on Uğur Dündar's Star Ana Haber news program and releasing the song "Kemo Ağa" on YouTube to document her fight against the disease.
In the years that followed, she remained known for her advocacy around cancer awareness while continuing to perform in the United States, appearing at events in Miami and, in 2022, performing with the Turkish flag and folk songs in the Caribbean.
